Effective Hair Loss Cure

November 11th, 2009 No comments

Loosing your hair can be a blow to your confidence and self-esteem. Even though millions of men suffer from male pattern baldness, somehow that does not make it any easier to deal with. Hair loss tends to give you an older appearance far before your time. If anything, it is jarring to look in the mirror and notice the change. It was a part of your life, and perhaps a part of your partner’s life.

The internet is flooded with drugs and supplements that claim to be the ultimate cure for hair loss. In fact, there is no reason to pay money to a scam artist in exchange for a sugar capsule that will surely not produce results. Stop looking for a magic solution and make an appointment with your doctor. There are drugs approved by the FDA that have been clinically proven to reverse the effects of male pattern baldness.

Baldness in men occurring for genetic reasons is, actually, caused by a reaction to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a form of testosterone that is naturally produced in the body. This chemical has a reaction with an enzyme found in the glands below your scalp. Although scientists do not understand the exact reason, it is clear that the result is shrunken hair follicles and, consequently, baldness.

There are two drugs commonly prescribed to treat male pattern baldness.

  • Minoxidil was the first treatment clinically proven to be effective. At first, this drug was marketed to lower blood pressure, but researchers noticed that it had the side effect of causing hair growth in all kinds of unlikely places. Today it is available over the counter as Rogaine, but it is not considered to be as effective as other treatment options.
  • Finasteride is a second drug commonly prescribed to treat hair loss. Marketed as Propecia or Proscar, it is very effective at suppressing DHT levels and helping the follicles begin producing hair again. Finasteride, like Minoxidil, was first shown to stimulate hair growth during an unrelated clinical trial. In fact, researchers thought it might reduce the size of an enlarged prostate.

Unlike many hair loss cures, a vast majority of men can achieve positive results by sticking with one of these two treatments. If your doctor determines that you do, in fact, have male pattern baldness, he or she may likely prescribe one of these two treatment options.

Talking to your doctor early is important when treating hair loss. Though a physician can prescribe any number of drugs that might help you, the balder you become, the less likely it is that the drugs will provide any significant improvement.

Treatment for Ovarian Cysts

November 11th, 2009 No comments

Ovarian cysts can be very painful and draining. Even if they are benign they can grow and make you very uncomfortable. They can cause , fever, excessive bleeding, swelling of the abdomen, pain in the lower back, and weight gain, among other symptoms. The faster you get treatment for ovarian cysts the better.

There are natural remedies for ovarian cysts that work much better than the methods used by conventional medicine. Doctors will usually prescribe pain killers to alleviate the pain, birth control pills to stop ovulation, and eventually surgery to remove the cyst. All this is painful, costly and risky.

Pain killers can impair you mentally and are very addictive, birth control pills have many side effects, and surgery is very invasive and always has risks. Besides, all these conventional treatments do not prevent the recurrence of the cysts. They deal with the symptoms only, not the cause of the disease.

Treatment for ovarian cysts with natural remedies goes to the root of the problem. With natural remedies you can treat the cause of the cysts. By simply changing your diet and staying away from some types of foods which cause these cysts, you can heal yourself and shrink the cyst until it disappears. You can also use a heating pad or a warm bath to relieve the pain on your pelvic area. By drinking a lot of water, taking fiber as well as certain vitamins, your chances of developing cysts in the future are much less.

The best treatment for ovarian cysts is to treat the imbalance in your body that is causing this disease. You work with your body to restore it to health by addressing the underlying problem, which is usually hormonal or stress related. And you can do all this from home.

Arthritis Pain Control

November 11th, 2009 No comments

Arthritis affects people from all walks of life and can strike at any age. Whilst it may limit your participation in some activities, the pain does not have to control your life. One of the very first steps toward managing your pain is to have a positive attitude. Your mind will play a very important role in how you react to pain and its debilitating effects. If you can laugh at yourself and keep a sense of humor, you will go a long way to winning in this first line of defense against pain.

There are other ways to help control your arthritis pain. One of the most important of these is exercise. There is the old saying that says “use it, or loose it”! Whilst it is not wise to exercise during times when a joint is going through a “flare-up” i.e. it is swollen, red and painful – exercise does help to maintain a joint’s mobility and range of movement. Exercise also helps to strengthen muscles surrounding the joint and to therefore keep it stable. This is extremely important for later stages when, due to wear and tear, the joint itself becomes less and less stable. If the muscles surrounding the joint are kept strong this will go a long way towards stabilizing the joint itself and thus controlling pain levels.

Exercise will help to maintain general health, which in turn will help with that all important positive attitude. One of the best forms of exercise for people suffering from arthritis pain is swimming because this allows for movement without the effects of gravity. Even those sometimes swollen joints can be gently moved in water so that there is no loss of range of movement.

The final two things to mention in this short introduction, are relaxation techniques and getting adequate sleep. It is very important to learn some relaxation techniques – simple ones – like progressive and targeted relaxing of muscle groups. This will help tremendously when muscles have been tensed to try and hold an aching joint in place. The muscles themselves can eventually go into a spasm which will only add to the pain burden.

And then finally, the importance of adequate sleep cannot be stressed enough. Arthritis is a very debilitating condition and this combined with inadequate sleep will only exacerbate the situation and that positive attitude that you have worked so hard at cultivating, can so easily fly out of the window and leave you in a negative frame of mind. This will rob you of the energy that is so necessary to cope with longstanding pain.

Stomach Ache Remedies

November 11th, 2009 No comments

The stomach ache has plagued humanity for a long, long time. However, you do not have to put up with constant stomach aches. In this article I will talk about what causes them and how to get rid of the them and keep them away.

The Stomach Ache – What Does Is It Feel Like?

It is amazing how little most people know about stomach pain. I mean, everybody gets them and some people get them severely and most often.

A stomach ache is basically a symptom that is caused by a disorder in your stomach or intestines. How does it feel to most people? It can feel like:

  • A sharp jabbing pain.
  • A stabbing pain (like being stabbed in the pit of the stomach with a knife).
  • A burning pain.
  • A slicing pain.
  • A cramping pain.
  • A combination of any of the above.

I’m sure there are more ways to describe different types of stomach pain, but these are the most common types.

What Are Some Natural Ways To Get Rid Of A (Or Reoccurring) Stomach Ache?

Okay, if you are prone to stomach aches, controlling and getting rid of them is a very serious issue to you. There are plenty of medicines on the shelves designed for this, but I want to give you some natural, harmless ways.

First of all, if you are having reoccurring, severe stomach pain, I suggest you see your doctor to make sure it isn’t something serious. However, it is often that doctors can’t find the reason that many people have continued stomach problems. So you have to resolve the problem yourself. That was my case, and the good news is that I resolved my continuing stomach problems.

Here are some natural ways to cure your stomach pain:

  • Try a teaspoon of peppermint oil.
  • Try a teaspoon of fennel oil.
  • Try peppermint tea.
  • Try fennel tea.
  • Try chamomile tea.

These oils and teas should be very affective. However, the surest way to get rid of those stomach aches for good is to get to the root of the problem by correcting and healing your whole digestive system, as I did.

Vasovagal Fainting and Dizziness

November 10th, 2009 No comments

Vasovagal fainting (neurocardiogenic syncope) is believed to be the most common type of syncope. It is estimated that 3 percent of emergency room visits in the United States are for this type of fainting. Vasovagal technically refers to the effect the vagus nerve has on the blood vessels, but in a broader sense it refers to the effects various nerves have on the heart and blood vessels.

The two types of nerves that affect the heart and blood vessels are called sympathetic nerves and parasympathetic nerves (like the vagus nerve). If these nerves are too sensitive, they can cause episodes of low blood pressure or slow heart rate or both. This may temporarily starve the brain of blood. One test used to determine if a vasovagal reaction is the cause of fainting is called the tilt-table test. The patient lies flat on the back on a special table and is connected to an electrocardiogram machine. Under close observation by a physician, the table rotates to an upright position that may cause a vasovagal reaction or other neurologically related type of fainting.

Several medications can effectively treat these types of problems. Occasionally these patients may need a heart pacemaker. Dizziness is different from lightheadedness in that a person feels uncomfortable, as if the room is spinning, but usually does not feel as if he or she is about to pass out. A good example is the feeling that occurs after getting off a ride such as a roller coaster at an amusement park. Dizzy spells can also be caused by ear disorders or other problems. In many cases, people misinterpret their dizziness as a cardiac problem, although it is not related to their heart.

Bacterial Vaginosis treatment

November 10th, 2009 No comments

If you have bacterial vaginosis, you may well be finding it difficult to completely eliminate. The vast majority of sufferers find that they are subject to repeated attacks of BV, and this is often despite using endless rounds of antibiotics and various over the counter remedies.

The problem with conventional medication is that it only treats the “symptoms” of bacterial vaginosis and not the root causes. It’s an obvious fact that if you do not remove what is causing BV, once you stop using conventional meds, the symptoms will flare up again. Bacterial vaginosis natural cures can be an effective way of getting to the root cause. However, to be completely successful, you will need to use a multifaceted treatment which uses various lines of attack to eliminate each and every possible cause. This is essential with bacterial vaginosis as although there are numerous “triggers” it is usually impossible to determine the exact cause in individuals and so an all-encompassing approach is the only way to success.

To get you started on the road to recovery, there are two tried and tested bacterial vaginosis natural cures. Both of which are simple to use and economical to buy. Indeed, you may already have these ingredients at home.

1. Probiotic Yogurt

Live, probiotic yogurt is rich in beneficial bacteria and is the same type of that needed to maintain the overall health of the vagina. Introduce it directly into the vagina via a soaked tampon and the good bacteria will quickly begin to multiply.

2. Tea Tree Oil

Only in recent years are we beginning to understand the powerful properties of this natural oil. It has very strong antibacterial properties and can quickly begin to eliminate harmful bacterial within the vagina. It can be bought in pessary form, or diluted in a shallow bath, using only 12-15 drops at a time.

If your symptoms are mild, or this is your first outbreak of BV, you may find that these bacterial vaginosis natural cures are enough to relieve your symptoms. However, if you suffer regularly or your symptoms have lasted more than 3 days, you should consider using a guaranteed cure.

Although not harmful in its early stages, if bacterial vaginosis is left untreated it can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease and can even render some women infertile. Therefore, it is always a good idea to treat the condition promptly. You are particularly at risk if you get repeated attacks.

By treating BV naturally, you can quickly restore balance in the vagina and get back to normal within no time, even if you are a long term sufferer. There is an excellent, robust strategy which is guaranteed to work and which has helped many thousands of women worldwide be completely free of bacterial vaginosis for good.

Fibromyalgia

November 10th, 2009 No comments

Fibromyalgia for men can be embarrassing. Guys are supposed to be stoic, be the strong one, and not let things get to them, get in their way or get their goat. They are supposed to be the breadwinners. Guys tend to measure their self worth by their productiveness.

Men that are fibromylagic had probably been in pain a long time before they cried “uncle” and went to see their doctor. Maybe the woman in their life dragged them there. Then they find out they have what they thought was a “woman’s thing”. What’s worse, they have something that cannot be fixed- and men by nature are fixers. If that is how you feel, you are not alone.

It is normal to be angry as heck- but that just makes the symptoms worse. You are afraid you will lose the respect of others, you will appear weak, wimpy, and, well…unmanly. And to be honest, you will not feel as virile, you won’t be as able to perform as you used to, you won’t have the stamina – feeling this way can lead to depression. Avoid that pitfall. Rethink it.

If you are a man with this disease – hear this. It’s okay. You can still be a vital part of your family. They still need your counsel, your love and your influence more than you being able to open a jar or mow the lawn. The true measure of a man is his inner strength. It is a man’s character, how he faces the tough times and how he loves life that people admire.

It’s alright to be afraid. Everyone is. It is the person that moves ahead in spite of fear that is admired. Courage doesn’t happen until you stare fear in the face.

It’s a good thing to get help. Men have a tendency to be loners, but face it, we all need someone around. To ask for help is knowing your limits. There is nothing wrong with that. Do not push people away when they want to help. True fortitude is knowing when to reach out.

When you do a project you need tools, right? Dealing with fibro is a life long project. You need the right tools. Medication, exercise and eating healthy, doctors, therapists- they are the tools.

Be a leader. Other men out there are suffering and do not know how to cope, where to turn, or how to “fix it”. If you have been down the road, you know the ropes. Start a men’s support group. Go out and do “guy stuff”. Get together and barbeque. Watch the Super Bowl or World Series together. Play golf or go bowling on the good days. You can even hunt together.

Do not let it devastate you. You are no less of a man with the disease than you were without it. It is all in the attitude. You want respect? Fight the battles you can win. Learn to back off and regroup on the days you cannot. You do not have to retreat and lick your wounds.

Base your self worth not on being a provider of income as much as being a provider for the important things – love, influence, mentoring.

A true man knows his limits and is comfortable in his own skin. With fibro, that is hard to do. But you will be respected for the way you battle it. If your guy friends do not understand, they need to grow up. Plain and simple.

Want to know the truth? They have weaknesses they are trying to hide as well. We all do. The true man, the one they will respect and maybe be a little jealous of, is the one who knows his weakness and learns to compensate. You can be that man. You know you’ve got it in you.

Acne Vulgaris and Acne Conglobata

November 9th, 2009 No comments

There are many types of acne, and if you are ignorant of them, you may try to cure yours by the wrong medication. In the end of that, you may end up with your skin worse off than when you started out. You may not want to admit it to yourself, but the truth remains that you need to learn all that you can about them so that you can recognize them, deal with them, and are done with them once and for all.

The first and most common type of the disease is acne vulgaris. It is often the type that you find in kids that are just coming of age, although it is also found on a few adults. This type of acne occurs on the skin of your face as a result of your hormones experiencing some changes, especially with the coming of age. As a result, you will perhaps find it more common in females because of the massive hormone changes that they experience at that time of their lives.

Sometimes, acne vulgaris manifests as cystic acne on your face, sometimes it is what some physicians refer to as subsidizing tropical acne of your trunk, and then there is the type that extensively affects your chest and shoulders.

Acne conglobata is basically the same type as the above, but it is considered to be a more severe form of it because of its aggression and the difficulty of curing it. You will find that although a lot of other people like yourself are suffering from the condition on their faces, yours may decide to grow also on your neck, chest, arms and back. It’s not because you are a worse or dirtier person; it’s just a freak of nature, so don’t freak out. Talk to your doctor or dermatologist, instead!
